No chains around my feet, but I’m not free

Aug 15, 2021 | Finding Freedom

Over 500 years ago people who possessed little more than the clothes on their backs and who suffered in ways that would be hard to even imagine for most of us, created a remarkable art form in response to the persisting problem of slavery, oppression, and coercion. Can this art continue today to be a tool of liberation in the hands of those who strive to be free?

Although banned, criminalized, and marginalized for many years, this art has spread wide and far since colonial times in Brazil and can now be found all over the world. Capoeira has been well known for its vibrant, rebellious, fluent, uniting, creative and effective nature in the old days. Why not apply it right now to tackle the current version of divide and conquer and alleviate its symptoms of ill-health, deceit, dependency, isolation, and fear? But watch out, there is a high risk of enjoying yourself, getting seriously fit and finding lots of new friends in the process though!

After more than two decades of learning and teaching how to use this amazing martial art/dance/culture I have been finding freedom in more ways than I ever expected. As few things are more rewarding than sharing what works with like-minded friends, I am offering the essence of what I’ve learned and experienced in the form of an extensive online resource.

The launch of the initial Capoeira for Beginners’ course will be on Friday the 24th of September 2021. From there we will take it to the next level and physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually liberate ourselves. At your very own pace. According to your individual preferences.
